Like the mustache, BSG cut off as well...
“We’re heading into the final season,” “Battlestar Galactica” star Edward James Olmos told If Magazine at Thursday night's Saturn Awards. “This is the final season as we speak. All of us are very saddened by that, but we always knew there was going to be a conclusion and we would find Earth, so we will be finding Earth this season.”

Good. I can't see this show going on longer than another season. At least we know everything will get wrapped up...hopefully...right?
More importantly, what the frakk is If Magazine? I don't know that they sound all that reliable.
I agree with Paul that is a good thing. They have an actual structure to the story they are telling and they are sticking with it.
The best thing about BBC series is that they have a beginning, middle, and end. The worst thing about US series is that they wait until diminishing ratings kill it off, in the meantime stretching the story so thin that its ruined.
Examples: compare the story arcs of the British "The Office" with those of "Lost." US shows that have decided NOT to go down this road include Deadwood and BSG.
BSG is, however, going the spin-off route to keep the franchise going. Sci-Fi Channel is developing a new series called "Caprica" that will follow the Adama family back in the 12 Colonies and during the original Cylon/Human War. (I'm not sure if I'm into that or not, to be honest.)
Kind of interesting that this news came out the same week that a definite end for Lost was announced as well. Good decisions on both counts, I would say, after spending 9 years watching the debacle that became The X-Files.
Also, on a tangent, for you frakkers who also watch Lost, is it just me or has it actually gotten good again?
I mean, other than the Carnivale rip-offs this past week (which BSG's own Ronald D. Moore was a producer on, incidentally.)
Hey! That handy "battlestar news" section on our VERY OWN BLOG has a number of stories contradicting the end of BSG statements being bandied around.
